This research was done within the framework of the 0406_ALTERCEXA_II_4_E Project, ‘Adaptation and Mitigation Measures for Climate Change thanks to promoting Alternative Energies in Centro-Extremadura-Alentejo (Phase II), funded by the POCTEP Cross-border cooperation Programme, at is action 3.3’ for the Extremadura Agency for Energy.
The aim of the project consisted in the analysis of the current traffic situation on Elvas Avenue and Adolfo Díaz Ambrona Avenue, as well as giving solutions for it.
Data collection methodology was based on recording cameras on 9 roundabouts of the studied area, and also conducting a poll in traffic attraction points, public transport users, etc.
All data collected were automated to feed specific software which simulates change options for both structure and traffic behaviour.
Finally, following measures from the use of intersections in time slots, the surveys and the availability of park spaces, a diagnosis was given together with a wide range of proposals to solve any of the identified problems.
